Kellogg's future is looking good as we move to become a destination summer and winter resort. Silver Mountain ski resort provides great winter fun. The altitude is 5500 ft. at the top peaks and has some of the best powder sking in the north west. There are runs for the beginner to the most advanced skier.
Summer activities include gondola rides to the upper base called the Mountain House. The chair lift rides from the Mountain House to the upper peaks provide fantastic views all year for the summer and winter. In the summer season you can ride the gondola to the top of Silver Mountain with your mountain bike and follow any of the many bike trails back down to Kellogg. Silver Mountain has built a state of the art indoor water park next to the lower base which will be open year round. The new indoor water park is now open to those who stay at the condos over night. Other activities available are backpacking, camping, fishing in lakes and streams, floating the river and various sight seeing trips. The Silver Valley is full of old mining history and has several museums dedicated to our mining past. There are two old mine tours that actually take you into old mines that were real mines in the past.
The resort and the town of Kellogg sets on Interstate 90 and is a well maintained 4lane freeway road to Kellogg from the east and the west. The skier then gets on the three mile long gondola to ride in ease and comfort to the top of the mountain for the day of skiing. No slick white knuckle driving here. At the top of the mountain one finds the mountain house with two indoor restraunts. There are four chairlifts to take you to the great skiing.
